Situated at the mouth of the Port of Mahon, Es Castell is the most easterly Spanish town.
The English built the town according to military plans and named it Georgetown. Later this became Villacarlos when the island reverted to Spanish rule and now “The Castle” because of the proximity to the now demolished Fort of San Felip.

This busy little town has two coves Cales Corb and Calas Fons where most of the bars and restaurants can be found. There is something to suit all pockets and tastes from burgers and pizzas to typical Menorquin dishes.

Markets are held twice weekly and the Fiesta de San Juame takes place at the end of July where all visitors are most welcome to attend.

Calas Fons has a wealth of small shops around the harbour selling a wide range of gifts and souvenirs.

The local bus service operates to Mahon.
