Ciutadella Car Hire, Menorca
Despite no longer being the island’s cultural and commercial capital, Ciutadella still remains the religious centre. The festival of Sant Joan, its patron saint, takes place each year in the last week of June and is well worth attending.
This far west coast of Menorca is the nearest point to its neighbour Majorca and on most days, from the port area, you can see the north coast of the island 25 miles away. There is a daily ferry making the crossing from Ciutadella to Majorca.
The port of Ciutadella is a narrow inlet lined with bars and restaurants, many backing into natural caves in the cliff face and at night the quayside buzzes into life.
The old part of the city is a place of colonnaded narrow streets and retains traces of Moorish architecture.
Ciutadella does not have its own beach although for most visitors this does not create a problem as they are here to wander around this pretty town and look at the sights.
There are good public transport links to and from Ciutidella.
