Fornells Car Hire, Menorca
This relatively new resort is on the rugged north coast of the island approximately 20 miles from Mahon.
The resort development is along a hillside on the west side of a small peninsula overlooking the bay of Cala Tirant. The long golden sands are never crowded even in the height of summer.
The accommodation is in self catering apartments, privately owned villas or hotels.
There are a small number of supermarkets selling everyday holiday essentials. The resort has a good selection of bars and restaurants.
Entertainment is mainly hotel based.
If using public transport, plan journey times carefully as there is a very limited bus service. Car hire is recommended.
The pretty fishing village of Fornells, not to be confused with Playas de Fornells, lies 2 miles to the east.
The Bay of Fornells is almost bottle shaped and gives the bay the appearance of being a large lake. This is an ideal location for wind surfing and sailing, both of which are available with tuition from one of the many schools.
There are a number of restaurants with wonderful views overlooking the bay. Not least, Es Pla on the waterfront and a favourite of King Juan Carlos.
Souvenir and craft shops are in abundance.
